Random Pictures

Well, I haven’t posted an update in a while, opting instead for the quicker n easier Facebook status updates. But I don’t want to totally neglect my blog, so I can look back on it fondly in the future (hi, future self!). So here’s some random pictures I’ve taken recently with my new HTC Touch Diamond.

Look how bright and blue the sky looked!

If you zoom and enhance, and rotate, you can see JonT at this Greg Laswell concert.

smart parking job

I want a Smart car so I can do cool things like this. The car, while parked perpendicularly to the other vehicles, was still sticking out less than the truck. That’s awesome.

This is an unadultered picture of sunset taken with my phone. Not bad huh?

Diving at the Marine Room

A group of us went diving today, at the very most southern end of La Jolla shores, nicknamed the Marine Room because of the restaurant that’s there. All together there were 7 of us: Brian Chris and Shelley, Tommy and his friend Brian, and of course Erin and me. This was by far our best dive in La Jolla. We saw lots of kelp, lots of kelp bass, garabaldi, and some other fish, a few lobsters, but by far the coolest thing to see was when we were paddling back to shore, in about 8 feet of water, we saw lots and lots of leopard sharks swimming directly beneath us! They were good sized too, about 3′-5′ long. Brian used his brand new underwater camera and got some pretty good shots, but he didn’t see the sharks. I put some of them up on my picasa photo album, shown smaller below:

Massive Attack!

We just got home from a Massive Attack concert at SDSU Open Air Theater. We were in the 4th row, and it was awesome! They had two drummers who were perfectly in sync the whole time, it sounded like drums in stereo. For the encore, they played my favorite two songs: Inertia Creeps and then Unfinished Sympathy.

Our new bathroom… finally!

So, after weeks of stress and coming home daily to fix everything our contractor has done wrong, our new bathroom is finally done! We now feel like we're staying in a hotel every night :) . We have actual Mexican travertine floors, a granite countertop fabricated from an actual rock, walnut vanity cabinet, 6' tub, and (my two required items) a Toto Ultramax and a dimmer on the vanity lights. View the web album. Here are a couple before & after photos:

Coke bottle rocket

My parents came down for a weekend visit. Erin was doing her fourth profession, wedding photography, for half the day but we still managed to have a fun even though she wasn't around. We went to Arby's for lunch and then came home and built a coke bottle rocket, using the plans in Make Magazine as an inspiration (of course, with us two Engineers working on it, we upgraded the design a little). The 'rents hadn't been here in over 6 months, so they got to see our new living room furniture and completely renovated guest bathroom.
